Fun Facts
I love to travel and take photos of all the amazing places I have been. I also enjoy taking my two dogs on walks and hikes around Austin. I come from a family that loves to cook, and have kept up the tradition by cooking a new recipe every week.
About Me
I am currently a student at the University of Texas and am pursuing my degree in Elementary Education. I also am a student teacher in a second grade classroom, and have worked with a variety of elementary-aged students. My goal is to finish my degree and graduate next Fall in 2013 and to hopefully start my career as an Elementary school teacher!
As a tutor I have worked with students of varying needs, including math, reading comprehension, writing and English language learners. I have worked with students from as young as 3yrs. to adult and have a vast experience in adapting lesson plans to meet student needs. I believe that all students can succeed and that to do so they need proper guidance, the tools to learn, and motivation.
My approach to tutoring is to understand what areas of growth the student needs to improve upon, and how to best direct the students learning to address those areas. I believe that communication with the student, parents and teacher are necessary to maintain student understanding and comprehension of material. I will work with the student to develop a lesson plan that incorporates what the student is learning in the classroom and make sure that we continually reinforce the material until mastered. I also will teach students important study skills, organization and test taking strategies to help keep them a step ahead in the classroom.
I hope that I can assist and aid students needs and improve their performance in school. I believe that tutoring is a partnership built on relationships that help build student confidence and success.
