Fun Facts
People quickly learn I have a lot of energy and passion for anything I do. I am very genuine and outgoing. Helping people is my passion. Sports have a huge space in my heart and always will, but since transitioning to nursing, I have been excelling in school in ways I never have before. Its amazing what once can accomplish if their heart and mind are into it. I do a lot of yoga, power sculpt and barre to help keep me in shape and calm:)
About Me
I am a University of Kansas graduate. I formerly coached football as a graduate assitant coach at KU under Charlie Weis. I have since switching to pursing a nursing degree at UMKC. I start my 2 year nursing program this fall in August. I was the Chemistry 115 Teaching Assistant/SI Leader. I held 2 weekly sessions in which I prepared activities for the students to learn chemistry. My ultimate goal as a nurse is to become either a nurse anesthetist or a nurse practitioner.
Experience
As the chemistry 115 Teaching Assitant/Si Leader..... I had the opportunity to tutor students 2 times a week for 1 hour each. Each session I prepared different group activities or partner activities for the students to collaboratively work on the material. I learned that student to student interaction was very crucial while having a guide there to help them. For healthcare experience, I am a CNA.
Approach
Truthfully, school never mattered to me. I never cared or really tried. I had excellent grades in grade school and high school but I never tried. I didn't focus much on school at KU because becoming a coach was my life goal. However, since I have fully dived into nursing, school has become a part of my life. Through coaching and being a returning student, I have a lot of problem solving skills. If effort/attitude is present, we can accomplish anything together.

Nursing - BSN - Accelerated
Anatomy Physiology I Tutoring
For A&P 1 I received a "B". A&P is essential for nursing students and when I took this class I was still on the bubble for coaching or nursing. I am passionate about A&P and when I decided on nursing, I took A&P 2 and received an "A" at 95% for the class. This is my favorite course and as a developing Nurse my knowledge for this subject continues to develop.
Anatomy Physiology II Tutoring
For A&P 2 I received an "A" at 95%. This was the first semester I was fully into nursing and recorded a 3.8 GPA while working 40 hours a week and being a full time student. This is my favorite class and is essential for nursing students.
Chemistry I Tutoring
I took Chemistry 1 at UMKC and received a B+. However, at this time I was still deciding if I should continue coaching or pursue nursing. After deciding to pursue nursing I was recommended to be the chemistry tutor. My knowledge of chemistry was great but this last semester as the tutor my understanding of the material went to a new level.
Chemistry II Tutoring
Our Chemistry teacher essentially combined both Chem 1 and Chem 2 as he is a Organic Chemistry teacher. We were actually introduced to a lot of organic Chemistry. I received a "B+" in this class. My tutoring sessions were open to anyone and everyday I had at least 15 students whereas the last TA averaged 3 students. I saw 70% of the students in the class at my sessions with a highest turnout of 40 students for one session. The students thanked me after the semester saying they could not have done this without me and that my effort was above and beyond what anyone expected.
Geography Tutoring
I have never tutored Geography but it has always been a passion of mine since I was a kid. Geography comes natural to me and I took this course at KU for my first degree and received an "A". My effort and persistence of any subject is what makes me a good tutor.
Microbiology Tutoring
Microbiology was the first science course I took over the summer when transitioning to nursing. I received an "A" for this course.
Nutrition Tutoring
I received a B in nutrition but nutrition is something that is personally very important to me. I live a very healthy lifestyle. My grade would have been better but this class is a lot of memorization and I didn't read enough due to working 40 hours a week as CNA, plus tutoring chemistry and being a full time student. I am an expert in this class despite my B in this class.
Chemistry Tutoring
I took Chemistry in High School and received a B. However, since I took chemistry and college and became the TA, my knowledge of this has become expertise.
Homework Coach Tutoring
As a former coach and a returning student pursuing my second degree, I have a lot of problem solving skills and discipline skills. I am a very organized person and can help someone set up an organizational plan for their homework.
Science Tutoring
Science has become a passion of mine. I have excelled at the college level tutoring chemistry and received excellent grades in Micro, A&P 1/2, Nutrition and Chemistry.
Statistics Tutoring
I took Stats (Quantitative Analysis) and received a 97% for the course at UMKC. I didn't take this in high school but I excelled this past semester.
