Fun Facts

I have had a passion for dance and music since my early childhood, and have taken lessons in ballet, modern dancing, and ballroom dancing. I continue to participate in salsa events, and plan to take lessons in the pasa dobles and other forms of Latin dancing; along with attending many dance concerts in the Los Angeles area. About Me

My academic background includes a B.A. in English, and a Master’s degree in Urban Planning/Public Administration, which have enabled me to become a writer, trainer, and market research analyst with a major utility company early in my career. Since then, I’ve operated my own management consulting firm, to encompass computer-based training, grant writing and program development. In addition, I’ve served as an Adjunct faculty member at National University and the University of Phoenix, and the Director of Diversity programs at the University of California, Irvine.

Experience

My tutoring experience began when I was selected to participate in a federally funded program, Youth Motivation Task Force. The rewarding opportunity involved tutoring ninth and 10th grade inner-city students in all core subject areas that enabled them to get advanced college preparation. I also worked with students in a program that utilized an innovative computer-based program for teaching K -12 students
I plan to implement the same fulfilling experiences with Frog Tutoring students.

Approach

My approach to tutoring is based on my early experiences in working with children from disadvantaged backgrounds; where they lacked the self-confidence to believe that they could learn new concepts. To that end, I’ve used patience, motivation and positive reinforcement to help them to gain confidence and self-believe as they began to master the subject matter.
