I love to grow herbs and other plants. With the herbs it is fun to try different recipes with what has been harvested.
Travel is another passion: Meeting new people and new places expands your universe so much.
About Me
I am a former teacher and business professional; currently I fresno">tutoring students of all ages.
Math is a subject I particularly enjoy teaching. My approach is to help them excel in the basics or advanced while keeping them on track with their school work. I try to make math fun and emphasize where it will be used in their daily lives.
Study Skills is another area that I enjoy teaching, It is amazing how productive students can be when they are organized!
Experience
Teaching was always a passion. Helping someone reach their goals and the satisfaction they feel when it is accomplished. So often younger students feel over whelmed; it puts a smile on my face to see then accomplish their goals.
Approach
I try to get to know the student, their interests and dislikes and how they learn best. Then use that to help them. A recent example was a math student who loved basketball. As a reward at the end of the session he played basketball math games :)
The more you can relate a subject to real life the easier it for them to understand.
Study skills are used with every subject. Sometimes the main problem is their approach to school work.
Math Tutoring
I developed and taught a College Basic Math course for at risk students.
I also taught Algebra at 2 universities.
Study Skills Tutoring
I co-developed and taught Study Skills for at risk College Students.
I have expanded this to all students and recently assisted a student with disabilities graduate college.
Business Tutoring
With my MBA I will be bale to help with most general business courses.
My masters concentration was Marketing which I also taught on the college level.
Homework Coach Tutoring
Using Study Skills and organization I have been successful in helping students succeed on school.
Recently, I coached a college student with disabilities enabling him to graduate.
Pre Algebra Tutoring
I have taught various levels of algebra on the college level. My experience includes elementary school algebra tutoring as well.
Elementary Math Tutoring
Oh the success I have had with elementary school math students. 3rd grade is particularly challenging with lots of new topics.All my students have completed it with smiles, parents also.
Algebra Tutoring
I taught several levels of algebra on the college level and also tutored algebra.
Middle School Math Tutoring
I have experience experience teaching all levels of math through Algebra. I have taught on the college level and tutored.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
In elementary school the reading requirements are demanding. I work on diction, understanding what the word means and uses. Combining this I show then how to understand what the writer is expressing both for their comprehension and answering comprehension questions.
