About Me
I am compassionate, loyal and dedicated to helping others. It is my passion and joy to work with kids and see them grow. I am currently studying a major in psychology with hopes of one day doing further research in social psychology to study child development based on environmental influences.
During Spring of 2012 I was a teacher assistant at the local elementary school for a kindergarden class. I also helped individual students on a one-on-one basis who had difficulty learning math or reading. Furthermore, I travelled to Costa Rica in March 2012 and taught students and teachers basic english in addition to aiding them with their homework, at their local daycare center in the impoverished town of La Carpio.
Before atlanta">tutoring, I would need to know and understand all the material the student needs to learn. Furthermore, I would need to know their strengths and weaknesses in school in order to assess the best learning strategy for the student after consulting with their teacher. The key to atlanta">tutoring and mentoring is patience and understanding. I believe it is important for the student to try their best to work through to the answer on their own, using my help as a guide and tool. This method allows them to apply their knowledge first, and then realize what their missing through my help. Consequently, I hope that they can now put together what they know and have learned in order to reapply their skills and master the material. After the knowledge of the subject is mastered, I can move on to teach them new concepts so that they will be ahead in class and even better prepared.
