Fun Facts
People who meet me think I am a very athletic person. I love playing badminton and running track whenever I get the chance. My friends and I like to go bowling, although I am not very good at it. In college, I learned new languages which opened me up to the idea of learning about new cultures. I hope to travel the world to meet new people and go on fun adventures.
About Me
I am a fourth year applied mathematics major at UCLA. My goal is to become an actuary sometime in the future. As an undergraduate, I took several science/california/daly-city">computer science classes which showed me the creativity in logical thinking. I also enrolled in one year courses in Korean and Latin which spurred my interest in different cultures. Last year, I competed in a data analytics competition which allowed me to apply what I learned to a real life scenario; thus, showing me the practicality of math.
Experience
In high school, I was part of National Honor society and California Scholarship Federation. Through these two organizations, I tutored my peers in various subjects including math, English, and the sciences. As I helped others with their homework or studying, I realize that many students gain a sense of desire to learn when they realize how all the concepts that they learn is connected and can be associated to an aspect in life. I try to link ideas to instill a passion to learn in my students.
Approach
I realize that everyone is different, and so, not one single method can work for every person that I try to tutor. First, I get to know each student that I tutor. Through a closer relationship between student and tutor, I can gain a better idea of how the student can best learn the material. During the process of teaching kids, I find it rewarding to be able to grow as an individual and become a more effective tutor by making sure the student can apply the material to real life concepts.
