Fun Facts

I love 18th Century English literature. No matter what I'm doing, I always have a side project going on with it. I've never been outside of the U.S., but I hope to visit many countries including, England, Turkey, and Egypt. I plan to learn ASL soon, so that I can study it.

About Me

I'm a junior English major on the Dean's List at FIU. I plan to travel once I graduate, but afterward, I want to get my master's degree in Linguistics. I have many career aspirations, but my current goal is to build experience teaching and become an English (ESL) teacher.

Experience

I've been editing papers since high school, and I've lead many study groups for my classes, typically in Linguistics and literature, but occasionally in math, logic, and other courses tangential to my major. Soon I will be volunteering for the IRC, educating refugees and helping them acclimate to American life, language, and culture. Working with Frog miami">Tutoring allows me to further explore my love for miami">tutoring and teaching and have a positive effect on students doing so.

Approach

As a child, I never found education fulfilling because I didn't feel that it was going anywhere. Once I discovered my passion for Linguistics and literature, I was inspired to take a more active role in my own education. As a miami">tutor, I hope to help students find something they are passionate about, so that they can find goals to aspire to. Hopefully this will make their education more rewarding, inspire them to put more into it, and ultimately guide them to success.

Once I entered 9th grade, I was made the leader of my study group for my Algebra 2 honors class in which I tutored students from 9th - 12th grade. I may be an English major, but I got a 720/800 for math on my SAT. I also have a 104.6% in the math credit I'm currently taking, so I feel confident.
