Fun Facts
An interesting fact about me is that I grew up on an island in the Caribbean called Montserrat. I am fluent in two languages (Creole English and English) and am currently brushing up on my Spanish and Japanese speaking skills. In my free time, I enjoy watching anime, reading manga, and playing video games. I am very passionate about animals, and my favorite animal is the guinea pig because they are so adorable and loving!
About Me
I graduated from kennesaw-state-university">Kennesaw State University with a B.S. in Psychology with Honors and plan to pursue a biologically-based graduate degree within the next year. I also remained in the top 10% of my academic year throughout college. My career goal is to become an Animal Behaviorist and rehabilitate behaviorally-challenged shelter animals so that they are more adoptable. When I have properly established myself, I will start a non-profit shelter geared toward exotic and companion animals.
Experience
I was a Teaching Assistant for a year for course credit and another half a year as a volunteer. My main duty was to work with students having trouble with the course content. Interactions between the students and me occurred primarily by way of electronic communication, but there were some students who needed to regularly meet in person for extended atlanta">tutoring sessions. While a teaching assistant, I discovered my passion for helping students and am grateful for the opportunity to keep doing so.
Approach
Working with students who have different types of learning difficulties and styles has been insightful. It has allowed me to more easily evaluate a student’s needs and then tailor my teaching for that student’s success. For example, some students might require a verbal explanation, some need real life examples, and others learn best from tactile engagement. No matter the learning style, I believe every student is capable of grasping the material with the appropriate support.
