I was Valedictorian of my high school, I have a full academic scholarship for TCU, I can sail a three-person boat by myself, and my thumbs are double jointed!

About Me

My name is John Santa Cruz from Bay Saint Louis, MS. I am currently a Sophomore at Texas Christian University, majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry on the pre-med track. My areas of proficiency in tutoring are pretty much any field of science and math on the high school level, and almost all subjects below high school. On the collegiate level, I can tutor in Intro Bio and Chem I and II. I got A's in both courses for both semesters, and I got the highest grade for the course in Intro Bio I last year.

In the past, I worked as a tutor for my high school for both my peers and underclassmen. However, I am also good at teaching elementary schoolers due to my summer job of teaching sailing camp. Though I didn't teach them academics, I was still able to teach them and grab their attention.

Part of my skill as a tutor is that I am able to take a certain subject which I haven't looked at in years, relearn it very rapidly, and be able to teach it. My teaching method usually consists of taking what the student knows and gradually building up knowledge from there until they have a full understanding of the material. I also like to give practice quizzes to make sure that the student is able to do the work under pressure when it comes time for the actual test.
