Fun Facts
I love to travel any chance I get. I have studied Spanish abroad twice and both times lived with host families. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, and especially love my Silver Labrador Retriever named Elvis!
About Me
I am a recent graduate from the akron">University of Akron where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Language Education and Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. I am approaching my second year of teaching Spanish I at a Middle School in Ohio. I love what I do and I am looking forward to a great school year with my 8th graders!
Experience
Having lived abroad twice and raised in a Mexican-American household, I have been absorbing the Latin culture ever since I can remember. I was always intrigued by anything that was new and foreign to me and I caught myself exploring to learn the Spanish language beyond the household setting. With the experience and opportunities I had living abroad, I have been using those cultural perspectives and sharing them with my students to help in molding their young minds.
Approach
I am a high-energy, Spanish teacher that uses authentic resources such as music and short video clips in my daily teachings to help bridge the gap between the classroom and real-world where the Latin community does exist. I use visuals to teach vocabulary and total physical response movements to teach verbs. I do not place focus on grammar however I let it naturally make it's way into my teaching.
