Fun Facts
One of my favorite things to do is read. I love the feeling I get when I pick up a book and read. I can rarely go a day without reading. I also enjoy cooking and baking and love trying new recipes out. I am the oldest of five. So, I am sort of used to being a role model for the younger ones.
About Me
I am in my junior year at Christian Brothers University. I am double majoring in Early Childhood Education and education/tennessee/memphis">Special Education k-12. I have a GPA of 3.86. I am looking forward to applying to a master program at Christian Brothers University that allows me to acquire my Masters in one year for Elementary Education! I have previously worked for a memphis">tutoring company called Kumon. I volunteered there before they hired me as a Early Childhood Facilitator. I have also been on the Dean's List 2 times
Experience
I have previously worked for a memphis">tutoring company called Kumon. I was originally a volunteer there before the hired me as a Early Childhood Facilitator. I worked there for three years. I have shadowed various teachers from elementary to math-middle-school/tennessee/memphis">middle school math teachers. I volunteered at my local library with the summer reading program and had the opportunity to work with kids Through these experiences I have been able to impact many kids lives and hope to continue being a positive influence for kids
Approach
Through experience, I have learned that each child is different. What works for one kid does not work for others. The instructor must realize this and then come up with ways to encourage kids to want to learn and not look at learning as a chore but a new experience. I make it a goal to constantly encourage kids so that each one realizes that they can achieve their true potential. I not only need to teach kids what they have to know but I need to show them that these are skills for life.

Early Childhood Education
English Tutoring
I have taken IB English for 2 years and received a 6 out of 7 on my exam. (The scoring is live that of the ACT). I have taken 4 course of English in college and received in A in all the course. My major allows me to figure out different methods that will help enable kids grasps the rules of the different subjects in a way that makes it easier for them to learn.
History Tutoring
In my college courses I have taken History 151 and 152 and received an A in both classes. These courses involved history prior to 1877 and since 1877. I have also taken History 106 and History 107 and received an A in both classes. These courses covered history prior to the 1500 and since the 1500. These courses relate to my major because it provides me with the information needed to properly teach future students of mine.
Homework Coach Tutoring
I have four younger sisters that I have helped, through the years, complete their homework. Not only have I helped them complete it but I drilled the importance of getting it done in a timely manner so you can always leave time to study things you did not understand in school before taking a break for the evening.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
I have taken two poetry course in college and received an A in both courses. Within these courses we were given a series of poems and short stories by the professors and had to interpret their meaning as well as use literary terms in analyzing them. My instructor loved to say that if you can break down a poem and understand the message then you can read anything.
Science Tutoring
I have taken Natural Science 115 and Natural Science 115 Lab. This course taught me the fundamentals of science as well as a brief sweep of the history of science over the years and each new discovery. I have also taken IB Biology in high school which is basically college level biology.
Study Skills Tutoring
Studying is very crucial to maintain ones grades in school. Throughout high school and college I have had a job and therefore learned very early on how to manage my time properly in order to ensure that my priorities were always in the right place. So I have always had a knack for making sure that when I study that I study while using my time wisely.

I am currently enrolled in a college course that teaches future teachers how to teach math. I have also taken 3 other math course a school and received an A in those classes. I have also taken a course on how to incorporate various activities in helping kids understand certain math concepts.
