Fun Facts
Outside of houston">tutoring, I'm a huge basketball junkie! I love following and playing it. I'm also into everything about cars.
About Me
I hold graduate and undergraduate degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and St. Edward's University in Accounting. I'm in the processing of sitting for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Exam.
Experience
My houston">tutoring journey has spanned almost five years' experience, and includes my time as a college student at UT-Austin and SEU. I've worked with undergraduate students and adult learners who all needed help with their course work. Most, if not all of my work, centers around numbers. My most rewarding time has been spent working with NCAA Division I student-athletes
Approach
I enjoy a collaborate approach to houston">tutoring. Because of the subject matter I work with, it's best to sit down with students and work problems with them. Depending on the student's current mastery of the material, I adjust my involvement (more hands-on for students who are really struggling and more advisory/observational for those who don't). It's in my best interest not to be a second lecturer to a student.
Request Me NowAccounting Tutoring
My degrees in Accounting prepare me to teach this subject to other undergraduates. I've had the wealth of observing many teaching styles along with tweaking my own style to suit the needs of the students. I always tell students that the math is never the problem in Accounting; it's always the system.
Business Tutoring
I have a range of different business subjects that I've taken over the years in the following areas: accounting, finance, management, economics, and marketing. The key to conveying the magic of these subjects to students is making sure you can relate the theory to reality.
Calculus I Tutoring
After earning a 5 on the AP Calculus AB exam, I started to tutor Calculus in my undergraduate days. I continued my curiosity by taking Calculus II even though my major didn't require it. In my experience, teaching it requires to show proof to students that it can work.
College Algebra Tutoring
Algebra has been always one of the easiest subjects for me to learn and teach. Therefore, I take great pride in students being able to do problems on their own after having me model them. The subject is nothing to be afraid of.
Elementary Statistics Tutoring
Stats are fun and practical. I've never understood, however, the proliferation of different statistics courses students can take; it's always been fascinating. However, I am proficient enough in my stat studies to bridge the gap between the theoretical and the practical for students.
Finance Tutoring
I find finance to be unique, but challenging because of the intensity of the math involved; this requires a careful hand and attention to detail. When working with students, it's always useful to draw timelines to illustrate what is happening.
Math Tutoring
Math was my favorite subject growing up in grade school. I took that passion to college, where I made a living tutoring. Math is done by working problems--not memorizing formulas. Therefore, in teaching it, I use many visuals.
Micro-Economics Tutoring
Economics is the study of scarce resources. Throughout my undergraduate career, I took 5 economics courses and received A's in all of them. I took special care to save notes from each class I took as reference.
Pre Calculus Tutoring
Pre-Calculus is one of my favorite subjects because it is easy to teach. It uses a lot of visuals and it is challenging but fun. I've even had success tutoring this subject to adult learners.
Trigonometry Tutoring
Most of my experience in trig has come from my time in geometry class. I've also applied it in the fields of calculus. It's very useful.
Writing Tutoring
Writing is one of the oldest forms of technology. It conveys ideas. However, it is a dynamic process; you must practice it to get better. It's not enough to copy and/or regurgitate essay formats. I've always been a fairly confident writer.
