Fun Facts
I love reading and writing! English is definitely my strong suit when it comes to school. I am a middle child with five other siblings, two of which were adopted from Russia. I know a little bit of Russian and continue to study it so that I can talk to people on my mission trips to Ukraine, of which I have already taken four. I worked as a temp at Conoco Phillips for about 4 months and as a youth intern at Skiatook Church of Christ last summer.
About Me
I am a Sophomore at Oklahoma Christian University studying to become an elementary teacher. I absolutely adore kids and can't wait to have my own classroom. I currently have a 4.0 GPA and I am working very hard to keep it. I hope to work with about 4th or 5th grade kids after I graduate and eventually to go into the mission field to teach English to kids from other countries.
Experience
I was homeschooled my whole life by my mother, who is an education major. I would often help my three younger siblings with their work and tutor them. Obviously, as an Elementary Ed. major, I love working with and teaching kids. During my freshman year at OC, I decided to mentor a 3rd grade girl at an inner-city school in OKC. I would help her with math and reading and I loved the opportunity to work one-on-one with her. I hope to be able to impact more kids by helping them achieve their goals.
Approach
I understand that each child learns differently and that each learning method cannot be easily catered to in a large classroom. I believe it is important to find out how the child learns and to cater to that specifically to help them achieve their absolute best in the classroom. Whether that be organization skills, reading, math, etc., I feel it is very important to explain subjects in a way that helps that specific child grow in understanding.

I have a passion for writing and have written anything from short stories to songs to poetry to long essays/research papers.
