About Me
I am a university professor having just returned to Atlanta after acting as an Assistant Professor at syracuse-university">Syracuse University in the Biology Department. I received my Bachelor's degree from the chicago">University of Chicago and my PhD in neuroscience from Emory University. My areas of expertise include neuroscience, biology and physiology. I also have a strong physics background.
Experience
I have taught undergraduate and graduate courses in neuroscience and biology at Emory University and syracuse-university">Syracuse University. I have informally tutored at the high school and college level for over 10 years. I'm looking forward to engaging students at the high school and university levels to assist them in accomplishing their academic goals.
Approach
Much like my approach in the classroom, I focus on active learning strategies at the individual level, using case studies, problem sets, and demonstrations to allow the learner to create their own knowledge, rather than simply providing facts for memorization. I use a variety of teaching materials help engage students of all learning styles. In addition to masting subject matter, students will gain critical thinking skills, time management, and strategies for effective studying.

Biochemistry Tutoring
In College, and particularly in Graduate School, I focuses my studies in Biology and Biochemistry. My efforts in biochemistry at the graduate level led to A's in both sections.
Biology Advance Tutoring
I am well versed in many areas of Biology, including cellular, molecular, and systems biology. I have guest lectured in several collegiate biology courses and, most recently, I was asked to accompany a group of university faculty to southern India to teach biology to Tibetan monks through the Emory Tibet Science Initiative.

German Tutoring
I participated in many German courses in college, receiving no mark below a B. Following college, I lived in Germany for two years as a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute. There, I spoke only German outside of my work. I continue to regularly converse and write with German friends and colleagues.
Physics I Tutoring
As a neuroscientist, I have developed a strong background in physics, and our nervous systems function much like complicated electrical circuits. In addition, this has been an area of interest for me since high school, where I took 3 years of physics purely out of interest for the topic. I continued to take physics courses in college, and I have used that knowledge as a scientist.
Psychology Tutoring
I am a neuroscientist by training. This subject is found at the intersection of biology and psychology. I have the most experience in cognitive psychology, but I also have a very solid understanding of the psychology of addition and biopsychology.
