Fun Facts
My three passions are playing basketball, creative writing, and helping others. I've played basketball for a very long time. It helps me get away from life and just have fun. I also enjoy creative writing because I have a vivid imagination and I love putting my mind into words. It's so satisfying seeing your ideas come to fruition. Finally, helping others is my main goal but that brings me the most joy. Seeing a person benefit from my help is always a good feeling for me.
About Me
I'm a freshman at the University of San Francisco. I recently graduated from Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose. I currently major in History and minor in Journalism. My current goal is to go into education as well as writing. I hope to publish a book or an article while being a teacher.
Experience
Recently I worked as a math TA for an algebra readiness course for incoming freshmen. The freshmen were required to take that course over the summer and as a TA, I would facilitate the lesson to my group of four students. I did more teaching than the teacher! I loved that job because I learned patience and students need a lot of repetition in order to learn.
Approach
The most important thing about learning is it works when past knowledge comes together. I believe it is my job as a tutor to help them understand new knowledge with past knowledge. However, I also like to provide examples in brand new knowledge. As a high school student, the best way I learned and retained is through repetition. When I explain a brand new concept, I guide them through a few examples and help them do some on their own. My goal is to logically explain to them so it's not memorized

Algebra Tutoring
I took Algebra 1 in 7th grade. Since middle school I was on an advanced track in mathematics that doesn't exist anymore since I've been in middle school. I took Geometry Honors, Algebra 2 Honors, Precalculus Honors, and Calculus with an average GPA of 3.75. My ability to understand arithmetic logically is what I try to help my summer school students understand. I notice they like to appeal to logic and reasoning and that's the best way to approach math.
Algebra II Tutoring
I have taken some advanced math classes at my time in high school. I have taken Geometry Honors, Algebra 2 Honors, Pre-calculus Honors, and Calculus with an average GPA of 3.75. I value my ability to work efficiently when it comes to math. I show all the work necessary without compromising time or lack of work. I pride myself on finding easier and faster ways to do things.
Writing Tutoring
The most important thing I learned about writing is the ability to provide evidence for the point you are trying to make. At my high school, I learned there is no stronger way to write persuasive writing than using concrete details and commentary. The five paragraph essay is by far my most experienced way of writing. In high school, I have written 2 research papers, 2 short screenplays, and a 1 act play. I love all forms of writing.
Middle School Math Tutoring
Basic arithmetic is probably my forte. I believe anyone is capable of learning with the right amount of practice and repetition. As a summer school TA, it was my job to help the students understand these basic arithmetic skills. It was great seeing them grasping these concepts and using them later.

Homework Coach Tutoring
Homework is the most important part in learning. Having good habits early will carry students a long way. When I found myself struggling in high school, it way mainly because I was not doing my homework the right way. After that, I got a 4.0 GPA for consecutive semesters. If students are used to doing homework early on, it is less likely to change when they continue to advance in school.

Reading Comprehension Tutoring
Reading comprehension is all about understanding what to look for. Before I took the SAT, I took these comprehensive questions and got plenty of them wrong. Only after taking a class, I learn exactly what the questions are asking and how to "read better." Read better as in grasp the reading material to further their understanding of the reading.
