Fun Facts
People who know me say that I am energetic, fun, and a great communicator. I also have many creative hobbies and activities: gardening, walking, teaching, Bible study, church, reading, exploring Denver neighborhoods and spending time with friends. I have spent the last 24 years in Loveland, CO and am very happy to live in Denver now. I have two children who live out of town, so I love to visit them when I can!
I have been fortunate to live in several states: WV, GA, CA, MD, SC, and CO.
About Me
I have been working at Lindamood Bell Learning Center for reading and learning focus with students from K to 9th grade. I love to learn and teach. Being a great teacher and educator is my heart's desire and enjoyment! My teaching experience has been varied, and my special interest is teaching students with special needs, math and reading needs, and gifted and talented. I am a great coordinator of learning and love to work collaboratively with classroom teachers to improve student knowledge.
Experience
I have been a teacher of K to 10th grades in math, English, language arts, social studies, reading, education/colorado/denver">special education and college prep classes. I have also taught Title I, gifted and talented, and chair of the RTI team. Additionally, I have taught swimming lessons in the summer time.
Currently I am employed by Lindamood Bell Learning Center in Denver and have worked in Malibou, CA at their office. I have learned an excellent approach for teaching reading/learning for students this summer
Approach
As a new teacher, I immediately saw that a few students were not reading as well as they should. I began to research and take extra classes to enhance my skills in teaching reading. This led to my getting a Master's Degree in education/colorado/denver">Special Education grades K to 12. I have developed a natural ability to relate to both students and their parents, as I have served as Case Manager for education/colorado/denver">Special Education students and gifted/talented students. I have seen tremendous growth in my students' abilities.
