Fun Facts
I was born and raised in Boise, Idaho and grew up horse back riding, white water rafting and skiing. My hobbies are drawing and painting along with writing poetry and short stories; one day I hope to enter some contests for my art. Recently, I traveled to Ecuador, Galapagos Islands, Costa Rica and Cuba where I learned about various religions and dialects of the Spanish language.
About Me
When I was born I had several surgeries on my ankles and feet so I would be able to walk and run normally, because of this experience I have a strong passion for medicine and hope to be a pediatric surgeon after medical school. I obtained my bachelors of Psychology and Pre-Medicine at the University of Colorado Denver and am currently obtaining my Masters in Public Health at washington-university">George washington-university">Washington University.
Experience
My instruction experience ranges from 9 years of swim instruction to all ages and 6 years of denver">tutoring for elementary, high school and college aged students. I worked as a peer denver">tutor at University of Colorado Denver, reviewing and lecturing on various science courses. Throughout college, I enjoyed volunteering with at under represented elementary schools, teaching students how to read and write and am very excited to be a part of a positive learning experience again with Frog denver">tutoring.
Approach
I believe a full understanding of a topic/subject is being able to teach someone else and this is what I want for all of my students. I find very creative and innovative methods of instructing subject materials by utilizing my students passions/hobbies. For example, if a student loves dinosaurs we can relate a history date and fact to each specific dinosaur so they will uniquely remember it come exam time. I also encourage strong study skills and a love of learning through positive feedback.
