Fun Facts

I love to travel. In fact, I took a big trip with my husband in winter 2016 to go to Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. I am also an avid reader and run a local book club in town.

About Me

I'm originally from Massachusetts, recently lived in Austin, and now live in Chicago. I earned my BA in History from wellesley-college">Wellesley College and my MS in Applied Sociology from Texas State University. I'm working on my doctorate currently. I have been working in education research since January 2015 and work with schools, state agencies, non-profits, and other organizations to ascertain whether education programs are working, and make recommendations for improvements. I also have tutored extensively.

Experience

I have been chicago">tutoring students since high school. I tutored other students at my high school through National Honor Society. I've also substitute taught high school students, and led a debate team within a high school in Massachusetts. I recently volunteer tutored at-risk second grade students in reading through Austin Partners in Education. I have tutored a number of elementary and middle school students in one-on-one lessons (both in-person and online) to help with reading, writing, and math.

Approach

I believe that all students deserve a shot at achieving and succeeding. Many students require a patient, observant, and empathetic chicago">tutor--I can provide that. As a chicago">tutor, I guide students to the answers to questions, suggesting, but not giving students the answers. I also believe that it is important to teach students organizational habits, test taking strategies, and common-sense tactics.
