About Me
I am a proud alumnus of the University of California, Santa Barbara, where I received my BA in Sociology and Chicano/a Studies with an Applied Psychology and Education minor. Experience
Recently, I served two years with City Year Los Angeles, where I found my passion to teach. I committed to over 3,400 hours of service in LAUSD public schools to provide targeted intervention and socio-emotional learning. I provided in-class support to partner teachers in Common Core aligned curriculum through delivering approximately five lessons a week. I organized school‐wide events that promoted academics, community and parent engagement. During the summer, I worked with Camp Galileo!
Approach
My approach to teaching and/or tutoring stems from my passion to help students become life-long learners. I was fortunate to have two amazing teachers in my life and the exposure to high need schools, to recognize the power of education. As an educator, I strive to bring enthusiasm and engagement to learning. I model what it looks like to make a mistake and learn from it. I provide positive encouragement and persistence. I attempt to help students build the necessary skills to be successful!
