Fun Facts

In high school, I used to do a lot of road races. One of them, I entered the costume contest dressed up as Optimus Prime (leader of the Autobots from the TV series and various movies called Transformers). It was fully functional and able to transform, so I started the race as his vehicle mode of a semi-truck, ran the race in his robot mode and crossed the finish line back in his vehicle mode. I didn't win the costume contest though. I lost the race to a group called "Runaway Brides," a group of

About Me

I recently graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in December 2012 with a Bachelor's in Nuclear and Radiological Engineering and a minor in Applied Mathematics (focus: probability and statistics). I enjoy playing various sports, but mostly basketball (Go Hawks!). I grew up in Richmond, VA, but since 2009, have moved to Atlanta, GA for college and post-college life.

Previous atlanta">tutoring experience I have came mostly during my high school years when I was part of the national math honors atlanta">tutoring society (Mu Alpha Theta) for 2.5 years. I tutored various high school students in all the math courses available at my high school (Ranging from Algebra I to AP Calculus). I also was a freshmen transition mentor for my last 2 years in high school, helping the freshmen adjust to high school life and encourage them to participate and have fun. In college, I was a GT1000 Team Leader, which was exactly like my high school freshmen transition mentoring position. I was a Team Leader for my final 3 years of college. Finally, during college, I tutored a few middle school students in mathematics back in Virginia when I went up for the summer.

My atlanta">tutoring approach can be described as "adaptive." Since every student has different learning styles and wants, gets or needs atlanta">tutoring at various times of the year, I as a atlanta">tutor must be able to mesh well with the student. For example, a student getting tutored in the summer would typically have less motivation to learn than a student in the fall who has a test the next week. Or, one student might need a visual representation (candy, money, etc.), while another one learns through doing the subject himself or herself. Therefore, I try my best to fit every student's style of learning so I can best help him or her. =)
