Fun Facts

I homeschooled my children for fifteen years and was amazed by how much I learned! When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my three children, reading and hiking. I also love to dance and was a professional clog dancer for a number of years.

About Me

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Kansas State University with a double major in Spanish and Social Work. While in college I had the opportunity to live in Mexico City with a Spanish speaking family and attend classes at La Universidad Ibero-Americana. For the past fourteen years, I have taught Spanish to students from age three to eighty-three.

Experience

I teach a variety of classes, including Elementary Spanish, Spanish I, Spanish II, Spanish III, and Conversational Spanish. I have worked in a variety of settings, including a small private school, an after school program, a senior center and one-on-one aurora">tutoring. My classes have ranged in size from two to twenty-five students and have included students identified as gifted and talented, as well as students with Asperger's Syndrome, ADD, ADHD, and dyslexia.

Approach

During my career, I have worked with hundreds of students and they have taught me that no two students learn in exactly the same way. I believe that it is the teacher/aurora">tutor's responsibility to connect with each child's unique learning style. In order to do this, I use a multi-sensory approach including games and interactive activities to engage all students.
