Fun Facts
“Now I understand that one of the important reasons for going to college and getting an education is to learn that the things you've believed in all your life aren't true, and that nothing is what it appears to be. There are so many doors still to open. I am impatient to begin.”
― Daniel Keyes, Flowers for Algernon
About Me
I attend Texas Christian University. I am a Senior earning a double degree in neuroscience and astrophysics, with a minor in mathematics. I intend to continue my education at the graduate and postgraduate levels.
Experience
I have a vast amount of experience in working with, tutoring, and mentoring individuals on the autism spectrum.
Moreover, teaching comes down to the type of student at hand- I try to analyze this before applying my methods.
Approach
I apply a largely dialectic approach to tutoring and teaching, wherein I encourage the student to dig for the answer and infer solution methodology- under my guidance- all the while getting them to prove if and why their approach is the right one. I rely heavily on examples, metaphors, and practical applications of subject matter as opposed to the use of textbooks, guided readings, and other so-called 'traditional' methods. I *do not* sit around and watch my students do their homework, that's a waste of everyone's time and money. We do the homework, the studying, and the examples together. My students have to work, and they have to show me that they are learning.
