Fun Facts
I grew up in California, but have also lived and studied in other countries, which fueled my fascination for different languages and cultures. I am a huge language nerd and study them in my free time. But I love all other subjects, and am an avid reader, always carrying a book/audiobook or three with me. I try to foster kittens and volunteer at the local animal shelter when I can.
About Me
I am completing my master's degree in English (concentration in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at SF State University. I have double undergraduate degrees from UC Berkeley. I am currently tutoring a wide range of students and working on the development of a language learning app. My goals are to gain experience teaching and inspiring, and eventually I want to earn a PhD and start my own educational institution to help improve learning and teaching in the internet age.
Experience
I have experience teaching and tutoring students of all levels and subjects. I currently tutor K-12, most commonly in English reading, writing, grammar, SAT, and sciences. At SF State, I've tutored local and international college students of various majors and diverse backgrounds, and while at UC Berkeley, I was an academic mentor to local high school students. While living and studying abroad, I have also tutored in academic and conversational English.
Approach
I strive to help my students learn and understand rather than just memorize and take tests. I tailor my methods to the student's needs and goals. I value good communication and rapport with my students. I consider myself a lifelong learning and I hope to inspire that in my students.
