Fun Facts
I love to read! I enjoy gaining new knowledge and seeing different perspectives. I love fiction, but lately I've enjoyed reading books of poetry, short stories and plays. I think it's really incredible to experience a whole world that an author has created. I hope to write my own book someday, and maybe even more than one! I have a sister that's two years older than me. We grew up in Georgia but we both live in Texas now.
About Me
I graduated from Morehouse College in Atlanta in May 2014 with Bachelor of Science in Physics and I also took mathematics courses up to differential equations. I was apart of the Society of Physics Students, National Society of Black Engineers, Sigma Pi Sigma Physics National Physics Honor Society, and the John H. Hopps Research Defense Scholars Program. I am currently a math houston">tutor at KIPP Sunnyside High School and I am an intern at Lakewood Church in the young adults ministry.
Experience
During my senior year at Morehouse, I worked at a houston">tutoring center where I tutored students of every age. I mostly helped with math, chemistry and reading, but I tutored all subjects. Currently at KIPP Sunnyside, I houston">tutor groups of Algebra 1 students that are below the required standards for the STAAR Test. I have tutored Algebra 2 and done math/texas/houston">ACT Math prep also. With Frog houston">Tutoring, I hope to provide one-on-one houston">tutoring, because I think individual attention can be much more impactful than groups.
Approach
Growing up, I realized that most kids in school dreaded going to math class. I was never one of those students. Math always came naturally to me. I see the same thing now with the students I work with and that's something that I hope to change. It is my desire to show students how important math is, how much it affects the world around us, and how fun it can be with a little help. It's not easy for everyone but effort pays off! I love seeing that switch flip and a student gain understanding.

Calculus I Tutoring
I took AP Calculus in high school, took a Calculus workshop the summer before college and took it as a full class in college so I have a lot of experience with Calculus! It's the foundation that math is built on, physics too, so I have see Calculus concepts in many different subjects. I have also taken Calculus II and Calculus III as well, receiving an A or B in all of the three courses.
Algebra Tutoring
I took Algebra once in middle school then again in high school. I love Algebra because it introduces a lot of concepts seen in the higher math courses and it gives a really strong math foundation even for those that do not choose a path that involves much math. I mostly work with Algebra students now so it is something that is fresh on my mind!
Algebra II Tutoring
I took Algebra II in high school and I got an A in it. Also, I recently did a 2 week crash course on Algebra II with some 10th grade students who were preparing for a post test at the end of last semester. Since, it's something I have tutored very recently, it would be easy to jump in and help now!
