Fun Facts
Not only was I a Music Major in college but I also played football! I have always had a passion for music and sports, coupling the two whenever I have the chance. As a teacher I pride myself on being able to connect with students on a personal level and relate the subject matter to activities they find entertaining and interesting.
About Me
I am 24 years old, passionate about music, and currently performing in various ensembles and shows around the Chicago area. My goals are to become the best performer and teacher that I can possibly be. I want to mold the minds of students and further their education in the fine arts to the best of my ability. I have been performing for almost ten years and have a love for sharing my knowledge and experiences to better the younger generations.
Experience
I have taught many students ranging from age 13 to age 30 in voice and have tutored many more in music theory and composition. I teach Bel Canto style technique which I have found is the safest, most beautiful style of classical singing and can easily be used as the basis for any style of singing, depending on the student's desires.
Approach
Depending on the age of the student and what their specific goals are, I take an "explain as we go" approach. This means that as I give instruction in voice lessons on HOW to specifically do a technique, I explain WHY it is important. Also, every person's voice is different and therefore I will alter my teachings according to each individual's needs.

Arts Tutoring
As a child I always noticed that many of my peers had the ability to pursue the arts just as I wanted to but they were afraid of being judged harshly by their friends. I feel that at this level a tutor is there not only to help students grasp the content but also to encourage them to pursue their dreams regardless of what negative things their peers may say.
Music Theory Tutoring
I tested straight into Music Theory 3 my freshman year of college after taking the AP Music Theory test in high school. After taking all forms of basic music theory I also took "Form and Analysis" which focused on larger works including sonatas, preludes, etc.
Composition Tutoring
I took three years of music composition lessons with James Mullholand in College. I have written over 30 pieces of music in the last 5 years ranging from simple piano accompaniment with one vocal line to large scale choral pieces breaking into 8-part harmony. Composition is one of my biggest passions and I would love to guide young composers in their own writing endeavors by instilling good fundamentals in the process as well as recognizing certain aspects of music theory that may or may not work in a particular piece of music.
Ear Training Tutoring
Ear training for any musician is a fundamental necessity. Teaching ear training is mostly repetition, but not only learning to recognize certain intervals when they are heard, but being able to create those intervals when they are seen on paper. In this subject I guide students in both aspects and over time they will grasp the concept and become masters at recognizing intervals aurally as well as on paper.
General Music Tutoring
In general music lessons there is always a broad spectrum of questions to answer. This subject has more to do with the student's specific needs in regards to their class than any other subject. In this subject I would review the student's lesson plan and tutor according to the guidelines their teacher has set for them in the upcoming days/weeks.
Music Theory Tutoring
The subject of Music Theory is possibly the easiest to tutor in my opinion. For each time period of music there are certain rules that composers tended to follow which made them extremely popular and therefore famous as history has shown. My Music Theory tutoring consists of knowing what era the student is being taught at the time and tutoring accordingly. For example: if the student is learning the basics of music theory which are based on the classical period then I tutor the progression of the circle of fifths as well as how to recognize these chord progressions on paper.
Voice (Music) Tutoring
I have taken vocal pedagogy classes as well as voice lessons for myself for many years. In teaching voice I take a classical approach in Bel Canto style. I find that it is the most natural, safe, and beautiful style of classical singing. It can also be used as the basis for any style a student wishes to sing; be it jazz, musical theater, pop, etc. My voice teaching style encompasses the student's desires mixed with classical vocal training to produce the safest, most beautiful sound a student is capable of producing.
Homework Coach Tutoring
I have always been an extremely organized person when it comes to homework and have learned many tricks that helped me get homework done efficiently. I would love to share my views with student on this matter so that they may learn to utilize their time more wisely and in turn, understand their subjects better.
Math Tutoring
All through high school I was a gifted student in mathematics, though I never needed to pursue it outside of simple academics. Having taught voice lessons for years, I see no difference in the teaching style needed to mentor a student in math. I am comfortable with tutoring any math type up to and including geometry and hope I may help students understand their material and go forth in their class more confidently.
