Fun Facts

I have played sports my entire life. In high school, I was a runner, a volleyball player, and a soccer player. In college, I played women's rugby. I have found sports to be an outlet that helps me excel at my true passion, academia and teaching. I have two siblings: one is a artist and the other is an engineer and we have grown to complement each other intellectually. Growing up in Los Angeles, I hiked almost every weekend and would rather be outside than inside.

About Me

I am a Master's student at The New School for Social Research studying philosophy. I attended Connecticut College for my undergraduate degree and graduated with a BA in Philosophy and History. I am a Mellon Mays Fellow, I am a part of the National History Honors Society, and I wrote a honors thesis in Philosophy. I hope to continue on to get my doctorate in Philosophy and become a Professor at a small liberal arts college.

Experience

In college, I worked as an academic tutor for the philosophy department. I tutored underclassmen in the introductory philosophy courses on how to understand dense and complex texts, such as Spinoza and Marx. It was such incredible fun, and inspired my dream to become a Professor. I also worked with high school students on writing and research and am capable of tutoring both English and History for high schoolers and middle schoolers.

Approach

I believe that every student is able to intellectualize, philosophize, and excel in the humanities. I try to take theorists, writers, historians, and philosophers who may seem inaccessible and weighty, and relate it to my students so that caters to their subjectivity. My passion is taking abstract theory that seems outdated, and integrating it into everyday life occurrences. I try to teach with a passion that is infectious, and have been successful through that technique in the past!
