About Me
I'm a Sophomore at UC Berkeley studying Mechanical Engineering. I attend UC Berkeley on a Leadership scholarship and I'm involved with the Leadership Awards Scholars Association (LASA). I aspire to attend Law school after receiving my Bachelor's degree and practice patent law.
As a high school student, I had the opportunity to tutor students in all areas of high school mathematics up to Calculus II. As the president of project EDGE (Engineering Design Graphics Excellence), I was able to tutor and teach after-school STEM (Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics) classes to local middle school students. Currently as an intern at the East Oakland Youth Development center, I'm in charge of creating Test prep online courses for SAT/ACT and tutor students online.
I believe that in order to do well one a subject, it is important to not only teach the students how to solve practice problems but also teach the student the overall concept and basics. When the concept is clear for the student, then it becomes much easier for them to understand and approach any problem regarding the subject. One other method that I consider necessary to tutoring is checking that the student is following the lesson regularly and slow down when needed.
