Fun Facts

I absolutely love corgi's and dogs in generally, whenever I'm having a bad day I tend to take a break for a few minutes and look up cute pictures of dogs. I have one older sister in my family who all live in Massachusetts, but I have made a nice home for myself in New Jersey. I also hope to one day get my doctorate degree and work in a museum. My favorite museum is the American Museum of Natura History!

About Me

I graduated from hall-university">Seton Hall University in December of 2015, a semester early. I have been serving a year in americorps, as an engagement advocate in a first grade classroom. What this means is that I work under a teacher and have students that I work specifically with every day. We work on math, ELA, reading, science and social studies. I also just started a masters program at The New School in Anthropology.

Experience

I have worked with kids of al ages and backgrounds growing up. In high school I worked in a day care, taking primarily care of toddlers. Also, I worked children's birthday parties for many years within an inflatable jump playground. I volunteered for a week teaching primarily English to children in grades 2 to 6 in Thailand while studying abroad. Currently I have completed 9 of my 12 month AmeriCorps term working within a first grade classroom. I have focus tridents I work with every day.

Approach

I really struggled as a child with math. I lost all of my confidence when it came to math and numbers, even through college. Today, math is still not my strong suit, but I have realized that does not define who I am. If a child has difficulties with a subject, we will work slowly towards it, celebrating the small steps. Each small achievement towards understanding is huge not only for the child's mind, but for their emotion and confidence.
