Fun Facts
I have worked on a volunteer ambulance service since I was sixteen. I have traveled to Portugal, and New Zealand. I love to make people laugh and have even done open comedy mic nights in college. I love, love, love to read. I try my best to read one book a week. I love to draw and paint and sing (badly). I love to hike and explore the outdoors.
About Me
I am a first year Philosophy Master's student at the New School for Social Research. My goal is to obtain a PHD in Philosophy and to teach philosophy at the collegiate level. I was consistently on the Dean's list in college and have recommendations from the heads of philosophy from my alma mater; Iona College. I am a happy go lucky, fun person who just loves learning and wants to live my life spreading knowledge as well as a love of learning.
Experience
I was a peer tutor at Iona for my entire college career at the Samuel Rudin Academic Resource Center. I tutored in history, philosophy, latin, history, study skills, and all types of writing. I was the head philosophy and writing tutor at the center. I was the main tutor at the center for the men's and women's basketball team for philosophy and writing. I ran an on-campus tutoring center for underprivileged children from the New Rochelle area at Iona. I tutored numerous children in all topics.
Approach
For me there are two important keys to successful tutoring. One is patience. Everyone learns at different paces and in different ways so, as a tutor I work with the student to make sure they learn the material at the pace that they work at. The worst thing is when a student gets frustrated so, I work with the student and encourage them to do their best, whatever their best is. The second key is fun. Learning should and must be fun! I try to make the material as relatable and exciting as possible
