English Tutoring

As an English major, I have not only taken the college transfer level requirements, but have exceeded these to take courses directed towards English literature. I have received As and Bs in my English courses I have also been recommended by my instructors to help other classmates with their writing assignments to aid them in meeting college level writing and critical thinking requirements.

Literature Tutoring

I have taken a variety of Literature courses on varies periods and received grades reflecting my knowledge and analyzing skills. With literature, there is a lot of interpretation involved but also as important thinking outside of just the content. I take into account the historical significance as well as the background of the author to help students think differently about the literature they are looking at. Critical thinking skills are needed to analyze a work of literature.

Reading Comprehension Tutoring

Reading difficult material is a part of every English class. In order to understand what an author is trying to convey through symbolism and allegories, one must have the skills to read through the text and decipher what is being told. I have also helped students at all college levels with reading comprehension as an English tutor.

Study Skills Tutoring

It took me a very short amount of time to realize what works for me as a student to study for tests and quizzes. I have the knowledge from my tutoring and personal experiences to help others find what study habits would work for them on an individual level. These skills allowed me to manage five four unit classes diligently and earn As in all of those classes.

Writing Tutoring

I have received As in college level classes from when I took below transfer level classes. I did not have a natural talent for writing, but I worked closely with my instructors to learn ways to improve my writing skills. Their advice and guidance led me to become an English tutor and help other students learn the skills. My knowledge and skills in writing have attributed to my essays receiving As the majority of the time in all of my classes that were not just English classes.

Writing Advance Tutoring

Along with my knowledge in the writing basics, my skills in being able to write for any subject matter has allowed me to change my style of writing for the content. To be able to stylistically approach a paper is a skill that is learned through reading examples and understanding how those authors' texts work. I have guided many skilled writers in ways they could improve from my time as a tutor.

AP English Tutoring

With a BA in English, I have the knowledge and skills to help with high school AP English materials. I have read the texts AP English covers and know how to analyze the content to demonstrate to young students so they can have the same college level skills. I also have the tools and materials that can help young students become better at reading and writing on the subjects they are studying.
