About Me
I am a third year sociology major at UCLA. I am originally from the Bay Area and hope to live in many other places before I return to settle in the Bay for good. I hope to work toward reforming the education system when I graduate.
I have tutored elementary school children through Project Literacy, improving language and literacy skills in low-income neighborhoods. I also tutored foster youth at First Place for Youth in math and essay writing. And I currently teach part-time at a preschool through an Americorps program called Jumpstart.
My approach when I tutor is to connect with my learners on both an academic and a personal level. I find that creating trust and understanding is essential to facilitate a good teaching experience. It is important to communicate well and to be a good listener in all aspects.
