Fun Facts
I am a total Harry Potter nerd, and I love to travel. I have a passion for competitive jump roping, and I have competed at both national and world competitions. I am originally from Juneau, Alaska, and so I spend a lot of my time hiking, fishing, and skiing.
About Me
I am a First Year at the University of Puget Sound. I am currently a Molecular and Cellular Biology major with an emphasis in Neuroscience, on a premed track. I am part of the UPS honors program.
Experience
Throughout High School I was a member of National Honors Society, and I participated in the weekly peer tutoring program. This involved staying after school and coming in during study hall periods to tutor fellow High School students in various subjects. I also did many community service events such as Read Across America, which involved reading to children, and D.A.R.E, which involved educating young students about drugs and alcohol. I also taught many Jump Rope Camps for ages k-12.
Approach
Throughout my many years of schooling, I learned that I worked best with one on one help. I would pay attention in class, but would often struggle to catch on as the teacher addressed 30 or more of us at once. I found that someone working through problems with me slowly, allowing me to ask questions if I got stuck, was much more effective. Pushing me to attempt to solve the problem or answer the question, while still having them as a resource for when I got confused was crucial to my learning!
