Fun Facts
Being from Minnesota, I love being outdoors! I feel most at home on a lake, doing anything from water skiing to canoeing. Though Minnesota will always be my home, I'm very excited to be in the Pacific Northwest and get to see mountains on the regular. I love traveling and think that the best way to see a new city is via a morning run. As such, I've ran five half-marathons in five different cities and have put a half in Tacoma at the top of my to-do list!
About Me
I am a freshman at the University of Puget Sound. I am in the Honors Program and am currently planning on majoring in the political science and economics realm. But I also hope to be able to continue taking classes in biology and Spanish.
Experience
In high school, I was the secretary of my school's National Honor Society Chapter. I was in charge of coordinating tutors for kids in need. I volunteered biweekly at our junior high tutoring kids in everything from history to math to geology.
I've also tutored privately to families in the community, mainly in math, english, and Spanish to kids ranging in age from 9 to 16.
Approach
My approach to tutoring stems from the way my coach taught me Nordic Skiing. He led by example and never did any of the work for me. He was there every step of the way and was always offering technique tips, constructive feedback, and encouragement. I believe this approach works for not just sports but also school.
