Fun Facts

I love sports as much as I have loved going to school. The NBA is my favorite sport and I enjoy travelling around the central part of the country to watch the Chicago Bulls play. When I am not in school, I am playing pickup basketball at my university's fitness center. I am the youngest of two but I will be the first person in my immediate family to receive a PhD.

About Me

I received my Bachelor of Arts in 2012 from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in History and I also received my Master of Arts from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2015 in History as well. Currently I am a PhD student at the memphis">University of Memphis in the History Department studying Egyptology. I am interested in the Old Kingdom of Egyptian history, specifically the geographical location of the pyramids. My goal when I finish with my PhD program is to teach at a university.

Experience

I have been a Teaching Assistant for 3.5 years for various introductory history classes at the university level. While I am focusing my studies now on Egyptology, I have a good amount of knowledge in Early-Modern and Modern European History, as well as American History. I have always enjoyed helping people not only learn about history, but to enjoy it as well. History is more than remember names and dates, it is the story of human accomplishment and I want students to share some of my passion.

Approach

I understand that history can be a difficult subject for students to grasp because they might think that it is nothing but remembering names and facts. On the contrary, I like to tell them that it is more about knowing the "big picture" and I attempt to teach them tactics which will help them get the "big picture" while filling in the gaps with the details.
