About Me
I am a Senior Education Major at Lipscomb University. I will graduate in December 2013 and I will be certified to teach math-middle-school/tennessee/nashville">Middle School Math and Science. I plan on staying in the Nashville Area and teaching middle school after graduation.
I started nashville">tutoring in high school. I volunteered for five hours a week after school and worked with inner city students in Atlanta. I am currently volunteering with Nations Ministry and working with refugee students for three hours a week after school. Most of my nashville">tutoring experience has been with middle and high school students in Mathematics.
I like to use the scaffolding model approach when I am nashville">tutoring. I like to use what the student already knows to help them figure out how to figure out new information. I have noticed that when they discover how their prior knowledge relates to the newer material, they are able to solve the problem. Once the student figures out how to do a problem, I like to practice more problems with them until I feel like they have a solid understanding of the problem.
