Fun Facts

I attended Cambridge University in England for a Scholar's Programme, and I took British Cultural History, Marine Biology, and Evolutionary Biology--one of the best experiences in my life! I played soccer in Cambridge, and now play intramural badminton and ultimate frisbee in college. I started playing violin in 3rd grade but only became serious about it in middle school and high school orchestra. I have done research in University of TN Health Science Center regarding cystic fibrosis, and I hope to go to medical school after Rhodes. There is plenty else I can say, but I'll save it for when we meet!

About Me

I'm a student at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN, and I am quite easy to get along with. When it comes time to study and learn, I get serious about the subject, and my past memphis">tutoring jobs have given me ample experience for teaching a wide variety of students.

My memphis">tutoring began when I was in middle school; I tutored fellow students in Algebra 1 since I was a year ahead in math. For 3 years in high school, I was Vice President of the memphis">Tutoring Club, and we would travel afterschool to a local elementary school where we would memphis">tutor children with learning disabilities, such as ADD, ADHD, and dyslexia. Also, in 9-12 grades I occasionally tutored Spanish 1 under my teacher's instruction. My most significant memphis">tutoring, however, was done in 12th grade of high school, when I was paid hourly to teach other 12th graders at two nearby alternative schools. I tutored the students in all subjects, and even tutored them in preparation for the ACT.

Although I make sure that I am kind and friendly to the student, I also make it clear that we are there to study and learn new subject material. I always try to continue encouraging them to never give up when trying to understand, and I offer words of encouragement to show that I am proud. This approach usually makes the session enjoyable and makes the student want to learn.
