Fun Facts

Originally from southern California, I moved to Seattle a few years ago to attend school and have since decided to stay. Like most people in Seattle, I love the outdoors. Any chance I have to get out of the city and go camping or backpacking or even hiking for the day, I'll take it.

About Me

Originally from Southern California, I moved up to Seattle over three years ago to attend Seattle Pacific University. I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors degree in English Literature. Ultimately, I'd like to teach High School English Literature but I want to spend some time tutoring in order to gain experience.

Experience

I spent four years working at a pre-school/kindergarten where developed skills in early childhood education. Since then, I have spent a great deal of time nannying kids of varying ages, all of which I have helped with homework assignments and reading requirements. Working with Frog Tutoring will definitely help me grow in my tutoring skills and provide me the opportunity to help further the education of many students.

Approach

Some of my favorite teachers and professors have been those who are truly passionate about their subject material. Even if I was never completely interested in the subject they were teaching, their enthusiasm carried over to me and other students. As a tutor, I would strive to instill that same passion and appreciation in my students in a way that would prepare them for success in their furthering education.

AP English Tutoring

I took AP English in High School along with IB English. I received a qualifying score of 3 on the AP Language and Comprehension exam.

English Tutoring

English was my best subject in High School. I never received a grade lower than a B in English classes throughout my time in High School. These courses consisted of reading comprehension, writing, socratic seminar-style discussions etc.

Writing Tutoring

In High School, particularly my Junior and Senior year, a major portion of the English courses consisted of in-class essays. These essays were meant to test our reading comprehension skills as well as our writing skills. My scores on these varied from 5-8, depending on the teachers grading scale.

Reading Comprehension Tutoring

Similar to High School, English was my best subject in Middle School and Elementary School. I believe that it is essential to help students master Reading Comprehension early on because it is truly the foundation of English study. Mastering this subject early on helped me better prepare for more advanced English study in High School and beyond.
