Fun Facts
Poland born and raised, I moved to Cleveland 7 years ago to start grad school and it's been quite and adventure! In the 7 years here, I made many friends from all over the world, learned how to cook Mexican and Thai food, discovered the joy of Latin and African dancing, started learning Spanish, volunteered in a dog shelter, traveled for professional conferences and for fun. And of course, I finished the PhD in my beloved environmental science!
About Me
I am a recent PhD graduate of Case Western Reserve University with a degree in Geological Sciences. My research combined my two passions - chemistry and geology/environmental science. I focused on sediment and water interactions, both from chemical and physical aspect (solute interactions and mechanical redistribution of sediments due to physical processes and biological activity). Currently I am finishing preparing my data for publication and looking around for my dream job.
Experience
As a graduate student at Case Western Reserve University I served as a Teaching Assistant for Oceanography class. I also trained and supervised 4 undergraduate and 1 high school student in laboratory work, data analysis and interpretation, preparation of written reports and oral presentations (using Microsoft PowerPoint). This summer I mentored an environmental science project conducted by a group of high school students from Cleveland area... and they did fantastic! I couldn't be more proud.
Approach
I started helping others with their studies while in middle school. I helped my younger brother with his writing assignments, and I tutored a few classmates who struggled with math and chemistry. I believe that the essential part of teaching is flexibility of the approach; there is no one universal, best way of teaching. I always provide multiple explanations, addressing a problem from different angles before I find the one that works best for the particular student.
