Fun Facts

I am a word person. You may find me completing or creating crosswords for fun. I appreciate swimming because it makes me work hard but in the end makes me calm. I am a proud aunt to three beautiful kiddos. My best friends are also family members.

About Me

I have worked as an Early Childhood teacher and as a college Composition instructor. I am dedicated to best practice, writing and lifelong learning. I hope to expand my tutoring experience and understanding of specific student needs.

Experience

I have fourteen years of elementary teaching experience. I love teaching young children because they are honest, curious and fun. I have shared student strengths and recommendations for homework with parents.
I have taught four Composition courses across three colleges. I enjoy adult education because the writing skills that we practice are transferable to many real-life situations.

Approach

I take a very transparent approach to teaching. I set clear expectations, explain why students should invest themselves in specific learning, and outline the goals of a lesson beforehand. I individualize instruction by tailoring curriculum to the specific needs of each student. I observe closely to asses, set small goals, and build upon mastery. I strive to make learning fun and practical.
