One thing people notice about me when they meet me is that I am always smiling! I am a very happy person and love to have positive energy around me. Therefore, I always want to be the positive energy around others to make them enjoy their day and their learning experience!
About Me
My name is Sandi Grace, and I am a senior at New Jersey City University. I am a Biology major, and I plan to pursue a career in dentistry and hope to start during FALL 2017. I am in the University's Honors Program and Beta Beta Beta, which is the biological Honors Society. I am also currently working on a material chemistry research project which deals with the fabrication of organic transistors.
Experience
As a member of the Opportunity Scholarship Program, I had the opportunity to tutor and mentor incoming high school students in Math and English during my freshman year in college. During my sophomore year, I began volunteering to tutor chemistry and eventually go hired as a tutor and a Supplemental Instruction Leader to tutor college students in Biology, Chemistry, and Math. Working as a tutor has given me the opportunity to expand my knowledge and support students to succeed in their classes.
Approach
As a child, I was always taught that when I put my mind to something, no matter how hard it is, I will be able to do it. That is exactly how I approach the material I learn in school. As a tutor, I attempt my best to bring positive energy around the students and motivate them so that they know that they are capable of learning and succeeding in all their courses, because of others can do it then they can too!

Biology
Biology I Tutoring
I have taken Principles of Biology I, Principles of Biology II, Comparative Anatomy, Cell Biology, Genetics, and Microbiology. I have tutored these subjects as a University tutor and a Supplemental Instruction Leader, where I attended the classes with the students and held two sessions outside of class to help them with the material and for extra practice. I've received an A for all the biology courses that I have taken.
Chemistry I Tutoring
I have taken General Chemistry I and General Chemistry II. I have tutored these subjects as a University tutor and a Supplemental Instruction Leader, where I attended the classes with the students and held two sessions outside of class to help them with the material and for extra practice. I've received an A for all the chemistry courses that I have taken. I'm also currently working on a chemistry research project, which expands my knowledge about chemistry even further.
College Algebra Tutoring
I have taken Algebra for College, Intermediate Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus I&II. I have tutored these subjects as a University tutor and a Supplemental Instruction Leader, where I attended the classes with the students and held two sessions outside of class to help them with the material and for extra practice. I've received an A for all the Math courses that I have taken.
Microbiology Tutoring
I have taken Microbiology and received an A for the class. I have also tutored the subject to my classmates while I was still a student in the class. The professor offered me to be her Lab Assistant for the class, and to tutor her current students in the subject.
Organic Chemistry I Tutoring
I have taken Organic Chemistry I and received an A for the class. I have also tutored the subject to many college students. Organic chemistry is my favorite branch of chemistry, and therefore, I will be the Supplemental Instruction Leader this year for the Organic Chemistry I Class.
Organic Chemistry II Tutoring
I have taken Organic Chemistry II and received an A for the class. I have also tutored the subject to many college students. Organic chemistry is my favorite branch of chemistry, and therefore, I will be the Supplemental Instruction Leader this year for the Organic Chemistry I Class, and will be tutoring Organic Chemistry II for all college students.
Study Skills Tutoring
I believe that I have steady study skills because I am able to be a full-time college student while working two jobs as a tutor and a supplemental instruction leader. I also volunteer on the weekends. This has all taught me about time management and I am able to keep a GPA of 3.9
