Fun Facts

Though I have not taken advanced math courses since high school, I have always been great at math and have, at the very least, excellent math-elementary/california/san-diego">elementary math skills. Also, I have been doing creative writing since I was in fourth grade, and am proficient in writing short stories and poems. I like to make learning fun, because I know that traditional style teaching can be kind of dull.

About Me

I am currently a third year at San Diego State University with a double-major and double-minor. I've mostly taken courses in Comparative Literature but have also taken many Philosophy and Political Science courses. I am excellent at critical reading and analytic writing when it comes to literature.

Though I have no professional tutoring experience, I have been a tutor for friends for a long time. I have assisted my classmates since middle school in analyzing literature, critical reading, and textual analysis. I am motivated with a "never give up" approach. I constantly encourage others to try their best and get even better.

The first step I would take in tutoring would be to find the strengths and weaknesses of the student. After this, we would focus on improving his or her weaknesses, with periodical "toning up" of his or her strengths. In terms of English, I would need to be familiar with the literature being read and, at the very least, read sections of the text if I have not already read the novel. Rather than tell the student the answers, I would ask questions to urge the student to come to his or her own conclusion.
