About Me
Hi! My name is Brittany Koury and I am a current student at Towson University. I am a Mathematics major with a concentration in Secondary Education. I absolutely love helping others in subjects and concepts that are not easy for them but I also love being a student myself.
As a freshman at Perry Hall High School, I was a tutor to 8th grade students taking Algebra 1 as well as Pre-Algebra. As a senior in high school, I was an intern in an 8th grade Algebra 1 & Algebra 2 class at Perry Hall Middle School. I observed, planned lessons and taught those lessons. I also worked with individual students after school during "coach class". As a freshman at Towson University, I was an intern at West Towson Elementary School in a 4th grade math classroom and at Parkville Middle School in a 6th grade math classroom. I also helped these students one-on-one during their class.
I believe that a connection must first be made with the students whom you are tutoring. Allow them to feel comfortable in your presence. You have to be encouraging to the students. Understand why they are having difficulty with a concept and try to break it down for them. Allow the student to make mistakes and allow the students to learn from their mistakes.
