Fun Facts
If there's one thing you should know about me, it is that I absolutely love to travel. If you can think of the country I haven't been to, it's definitely on my bucket list. This has always stemmed from my love of people and inspired my poetry. I am completely fascinated by people and the human experience. As I travel, I write. And the more I write, the more connected I feel to the world amd the people in it.
About Me
I've taught middle school English at both public and private schools in the U.S and internationally. As a literacy specialist, most recently I worked with the best charter school system in New York City, and study at Relay's Graduate School of Education where emphasis is placed on the best teaching practices to ensure a child's success both short term- in the very intense and competitive State Tests and Exams; and in the long term to ensure that every child is ready for high school and college.
Experience
I've been fortunate to have worked with young people as an ESL teacher around the world before working with young people in the U.S. As a middle school teacher with one of the most competitive charter schools, I am intimately aware of the 5th to 8th grade Common Core Curriculum, and I have experience planning the best lessons to tackle these difficult concepts and writing strategies.
Approach
I make learning English fun! Because of my passion as a writer and lover of literature, my students develop an innate love for reading and writing as well... and it shows, not only in their grades but in their increased confidence and self-expression. My approach is simple- Push rigor, incorporated with a friendly positive attitude. One thing you'd notice about my sessions is lots of writing reading and even more smiles and enxouragement. With my students, it's never a question -They're capable!
