Fun Facts
I have lots of passions that I do my best to pursue. I enjoy training Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu, leisure reading, and am trying to get back into painting. I've created and sold my own website in the span of one semester. I'm also enrolled in an online course for EMT Basic Training and aim to work on my school's EMS Squad next semester.
About Me
I just finished my first year as a student at Duke University where I'm studying neuroscience. As a pre-med student, I ultimately hope to be a surgeon. I assist with research at Duke's Noninvasive Neuromodulatory Neuroscience (N3) Lab with Dr. Bruce Luber.
I have volunteered at the tutoring company Kumon before and have helped kids in my school with schoolwork. Kumon was definitely a more professional atmosphere, where I would have to make notes of progress and check work. With classmates, procedures were generally more relaxed and I felt this way of teaching worked well too.
I'm very patient and feel great pride whenever I can help somebody understand concepts that they can't grasp on their own. Generally when I am helping someone, I let him or her do as much work as they can on their own and make them think for themselves as far as they can before I begin to guide them little by little. I feel that this way works best and allows the student to learn the most.
