About Me
I returned to school after years off while I pursued travel and other life experiences. I also became a General Contractor and ran my own business until 2008 when the housing market collapsed. My company was young and really could not compete with more well established firms and my business failed. I saw this as an opportunity to return to school and I will be graduating in two weeks with a Bachelor's degree in Comparative Literature. I have also been accepted into the Masters program at San Diego State University for Comparative Literature with an emphasis on Children's Literature. I'm very excited to begin the next chapter in my education.
My tutoring experience is primarily hands-on, through helping classmates, neighbors, and friends become better writers of papers for their classes. I also have extensive experience coaching youth soccer, which I feel is akin to tutoring and mentoring an entire team of students into becoming better individuals by working hard to produce as part of a team.
My philosophy towards tutoring is that education is an individual effort, but where education leads must be directed towards a larger common goal of success. This success can be part of a company, part of an entrepreneurial effort, and certainly part of a community effort. My students will definitely be able to participate in class and fully understand the subject material that is presented. In this way, every student will feel like an integral part of their classroom, and not a passive observer to the education process. Every student I will tutor will be given encouragement to succeed, and to think outside the box if that is how their brain works in order to learn properly. Tutoring is a very individual-specific approach to harnessing all the talents a student has to employ.
