College Algebra Tutoring

I did not have to take any Algebra in College. I did tutor college students remedial math and pre-algebra, as well as algebra. I tutored a class of 2- to 30 students for the remedial and pre-algebra. I worked with one to six students for algebra. It was always gratifying to see them pass their course and move on to the next level.

GED Tutoring

I worked with two individuals, voluntarily, prep and study for the GED. Both individuals had been out of high school for over 5 years and had forgotten a lot of the material. I basically had to reteach a lot of the material, especially the math and help them retain everything they had learned.

Math Tutoring

I am comfortable tutoring college algebra, geometry, and sometimes trig. I do not feel comfortable tutoring Calculus, although I took AP Calculus, Calculus, 2 and 3. I never took Pre-Calculus in high school or college because I was placed directly into Calculus 1 due to my scores on the placement test.

Sociology Tutoring

Sociology was my major in undergrad with a minor in Mathematics. I am more comfortable in tutoring the basics and foundation courses of sociology. I cannot remember all of the courses that I took, but I passed all my sociology classes with a B or better.

Study Skills Tutoring

I am an awesome test taker. I am aware that students learn in different ways. Once a student knows what type of learner they are, it is easier for them to find ways of studying that is most effective for them. So my main goal is to help students identify their way of learning, to enhance their learning in the and outside of the classroom.

At Kumon, I assisted High School students with Algebra. I was always advanced in Math in High School. I assisted my classmates and helped them find simpler ways to grasp and retain the material presented.

Algebra II Tutoring

At the math learning center at Hunter College, I assisted High School students with Algebra over the summer. I was always advanced in Math in High School. I assisted my classmates and helped them find simpler ways to grasp and retain the material presented.

Geometry Tutoring

At Kumon and the math learning center, I assisted High School students with remedial math. I was always advanced in Math in High School. I assisted my classmates and students with finding simpler ways to grasp and retain the material presented.

Math Advance Tutoring

I also tutored and worked closely with two students who had failed the Math A regents in the summer of 2006. Both of the students passed the regents the second time around. We build a very strong relationship in so little time and I was able to give them the confidence they needed to pass the exam.

Pre Algebra Tutoring

At the math learning center at Hunter College, I assisted High School and college students with Pre- Algebra and remedial math. It was a class of 20 to 30 students. Provided them with the tools, rules, confidence, and knowledge to pass the course and enroll in a college level math course.

English Tutoring

At Kumon, I assisted children who did not speak English, learn math and reading, while explaining to them the meaning of each English word. It was challenging, but with the use of pictures, and practice, they were able to improve on their vocabulary.

Homework Coach Tutoring

At Kumon I assisted children with their math and reading packets. I only intervened when my assistance was needed. I helped the students maintain their focus, speed, and rules or tricks to complete some problems.

Middle School Math Tutoring

I took the Math A regents in the 8th grade. I was always in the advanced math class. I always assisted my classmates with the material. Also worked with middle school students at Kumon.

Reading Comprehension Tutoring

At Kumon I also assisted middle school children with their reading material. I helped them maintain focus, speed, and understanding of the material and vocabulary. I also made sure they were able to summarize the plot or theme.

Elementary Math Tutoring

I have experience assisting children as young as 3 complete math and reading materials at Kumon's Math and Reading Learning Center. I worked with children one or one or in groups of threes. There, I helped children learn the material as well as maintain focus and speed.

Microsoft PowerPoint Tutoring

I enjoy creating power points. I was always the one making final edits and adding extra decorations and animations to the group project. I am very good at teaching and showing others how to make their power points stand out and attractive.

Microsoft Word Tutoring

I am very good with computers. I am known for not reading directions and figuring things out on my own. I always was a head of my technology courses. I am always assisting others with the computer.
