About Me
I am a Psychology and English double major at UT, graduating in May of 2014. I volunteer at Austin State Hospital and plan to earn my PhD in clinical psychology to eventually become a forensic psychologist. I also love to write and in my spare time help copy edit for a book.
In high school, I worked weekly with other students to help improve their grades in English classes. This program was through the National Honor Society, and I found it very fulfilling work. Help other students to succeed and find their passions in any subject is incredibly satisfying.
My approach to both tutoring and mentoring is to help establish a broad range of study skills that apply to many subjects. I then seek to focus in on specific problem areas a student is having. By concentrating on building a foundation of functional approaches to problems, students gain the tools they need without having to constantly worry about everything they are doing wrong. When they then apply these skills, they find that they have made more progress than they realize, and the problem areas are that much easier to tackle.
