Fun Facts
One of my passions is singing and playing guitar. For those who know me, I am either singing in a choir or performing with the local choral group. I love reading a good book, hiking, playing volleyball, tennis, or soccer. Whenever I have the time, I enjoy reading a good book, going hiking in the Colorado mountains, or working out playing tennis or in a gym.
About Me
I am currently working on my doctoral degree in Public Safety & Leadership with a concentration in forensics and specialization in criminal justice. I am in the dissertation phase of my program.
I was an avid tutor from 2000 through 2002 and I have been an in-home tutor since 2004. I am currently a substitute teacher for the local Indianapolis Public Schools and have been since April of 2009.
I initially gauge a student's strengths and weaknesses through talking and getting to know the student. From there, I assess his abilities and understanding of the current material by allowing him to work on homework problems initially on his own. I also attempt to develop a working relationship and rapport with the student to at least allow the student to feel comfortable with me as a tutor and be forthcoming in his academic needs and struggles. I have received extensive professional development in reading and math workshop models, management, and analyzing data. I contribute to the school culture by grading classroom assessments, collaborating on the Project Restore team, and supervision of students.
