Fun Facts

It usually does not take long for anyone to realize that I am an animal lover! Animals have always played a huge part in my life. I spend every Friday volunteering at an animal shelter, where I get to train and play with dogs and cats. I love it! It is my goal and dream to one day open my own animal rescue ranch. I would like for my ranch to become a sanctuary where at-risk youth and people with special needs can find comfort, joy, and meaning in life by spending time with animals that love to be loved.

Aside from my passion for animals, I also love baking (I am crazy about chocolate!), yoga, and being outdoors! My two favorite places in the world are the beach and my grandmother's house.

About Me

I am from the small town of Madison, Mississippi, but I have quickly fallen in love with Texas! I am a sophomore Strategic Communications (Advertising/Public Relations) major at Texas Christian University. I'm an Art minor with an emphasis in photography, because photography has been a hobby of mine for as long as I can remember.

During my senior year of high school, I was a mentor in the Big Brother Big Sister program. I was assigned a "little," a fourth grade student, who had social and educational difficulties. I would spend an hour and a half with her, every other weekday, in which I would help her with her school work and also become a friend for her to look up to. By the end of a year, she was at the top of her class in school performance, and her confidence was radiant. During the last week of our mentoring sessions, we both wrote an essay about each other under the topic of "The Most Influential Person" in our lives. Her essay helped her pass to the next grade, and my essay helped me get accepted to TCU. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and I am so eager to get to be a tutor and a mentor again!

From personal experience, I believe that confidence is the most important thing to have when approaching a problem. I do not want my students to feel relieved when they figure something out; rather, I want my students to be excited when they approach a problem, because they know that they can solve it! I am very positive, so I give a lot of encouragement to students. I am laid-back so that students do not feel anxious about working or embarrassed about getting something wrong. I like to have students excited about new material and extremely comfortable with old material. I will also give students study tips to use while I am away.
