Fun Facts
Harry Potter is one of my favorite book series. At my high school, I was one of the four founders of the Harry Potter Club and people called me Cellazar Slytherin. I would play Quidditch on the weekends---our team is registered with the IQA! (For you Muggles, that is short for the International Quidditch Association.) I love to play the cello and guitar and some of my favorite musicians are D'vorak, Adele, Atmosphere, Blue Scholars, and Queen. Recently I've been on a 90s R&B kick, so if you have
About Me
I am a second-year Critical Gender Studies and Ethnic Studies double major at UCSD. I've maintained a GPA over 3.2 every quarter and have excellent relationships with all of my amazing professors. I have a heavy medical background and hope to integrate my passions for medicine and social sciences through the narrative medicine graduate program at Columbia University.
In high school I was the founder, president, and editor-in-chief of a student organization called SNAPS (Student Novelists Association with Powerful Skills). Despite my graduation, our organization has transitioned well into new leadership and is still going strong! We not only publish a highly-anticipated literary journal, but we also facilitate a successful peer-to-peer editing and workshopping program. I read and edited countless student submissions to the journal and also for purely academic purposes.
I am also an alumnus of Next Generation Scholars, a highly competitive, non-profit college access program for exceptional youth. I often tutored younger members in writing and reading comprehension as well as SAT strategy for those respective areas. My skills were also utilized regularly by the CEO for editing college essays and personal statements.
I was also the TA for the Sociology of Gender Justice course at the Next Generation Scholars Summer Academy. I taught and held office hours for 35 freshmen and sophomore high school students.
Tutoring students helps to remind me why education is so essential and how passionate I am about English! They revitalize my intellectual energy and fortify my resolve to further students' goals of achieving academic excellence.
I don't believe in forcing students into grueling study regimen or exercises---I feel that such practices create negative associations with the subject! Instead, I prefer to familiarize myself with the student's personality, quirks, likes, dislikes, and best learning style to try and synthesize a particular approach that is tailored to
